Kenosha, WI — With just nine days until November 5th, the Democratic Party of Illinois continues its get out the vote efforts—this time in Kenosha. DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez bussed staff and volunteers from Chicago to Wisconsin to rally, canvass, and knock doors for Harris-Walz and down-ballot Wisconsin Democrats. Hernandez and her staff were excited to be joined in the effort by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and U.S. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-9) who helped kick off the launch.

“Today, I was proud to visit our neighbors to the north to door-knock and galvanize voters in advance of November 5th,” said DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez. “Wisconsin and Illinois voters recognize what’s at stake—it’s our voting rights, the right to make choices about our own bodies, and the right to democracy. No one works as hard as Midwest Democrats and I’m proud that our state parties are in this together. Now, let’s keep up the fight!”

“Wisconsin Dems are grateful to our friends at the Democratic Party of Illinois for making the trip up to help us get out the vote in this enormously consequential election,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Winkler. “For these final nine days, it’s all hands on deck for Democracy, and the Illinois Dems are welcome reinforcements here on the front lines of one of the nation’s most critical battleground states. We may have rival football teams, but we know that when we work together, freedom wins in the Midwest.”

Over 100 volunteers from Illinois and Wisconsin canvassed jointly today in Kenosha in support of the top of the ticket, as well as U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, Peter Barca for U.S. Congress (WI-1), State Representative Tip McGuire (WI-64), Michael Dhindsa for State Assembly (WI-32) and Ben DeSmidt for State Assembly (WI-65). Today’s mobilization comes after DPI hosted over twenty get out the vote events in Illinois, including two weekends of action, an event with Governor Pritzker in Lake County and a youth vote rally this past Thursday at Illinois State University.
