Chicago, IL – Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez released the following statement on the incoming results of school and library board races:
“We owe a debt of gratitude to each of the candidates, volunteers, and voters who showed up throughout this election cycle to build a more inclusive and fair state for all. Each of the credible community advocates on the ballot deserve our sincerest appreciation for stepping up to defend our values, even in the face of fierce opposition from the far-right,” DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez said. “Running for local office is no easy task, and I commend all of the community leaders who entered this fight for a brighter future for children and families in every corner of Illinois. As we await further results from school and library board races across the state, we above all respect and honor the democratic process, and we thank every single Illinoisan who cast a ballot to make their voice heard in this election.”
