Illinois Republicans, Are Y’all Okay?

Holding a press conference outside of Emma Shafer’s home without permission from her family is a new low.

Springfield, IL — This morning, without consent from her family, members of the ILGOP shamelessly stood with foreign prison tour guide and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in front of the family home of the late Emma Shafer, a progressive Illinois activist who was sadly taken too soon. The Democratic Party of Illinois issued the following statement:

“It’s one thing to pull a political stunt. In fact, they’re expected when your cult lea–excuse us–president, ‘runs’ the U.S. like the set of a low-budget reality TV show. It’s another thing entirely to hold a press conference outside of a murdered woman’s home, without permission from her family, and to be so bad at your jobs that you don’t even know that her family and Emma Shafer herself would vehemently disagree with the racism and xenophobia you’re spewing. We can at least give cowardly John Curran points for entertainment as he’s shown scurrying off as protesters arrive.”

Illinois Republicans shamelessly in attendance:

  • Senate GOP Leader John Curran
  • State Representatives Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich)
  • Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro)
  • Brad Halbrook (R-Shelbyville)
  • Martin McLaughlin (Barrington Hills)
  • Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City)
  • Jed Davis (R-Newark)
  • David Friess (R-Red Bud)
  • State Senators Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport)
  • Sue Rezin (R-Morris)
