Springfield, IL — In response to the ILGOP’s continued silence on the sitting President of the United States’ public calls for Americans and members of Congress to be hanged, the Democratic Party of Illinois issued the following statement:
“Yesterday, Donald Trump called for the deaths of sitting members of Congress and still—no rebukes from the Illinois Republican Party. Between this administration’s record of beating up residents, threatening protesters, undermining SNAP, education, and health care, and now public, unapologetic calls for executions, at what point does the ILGOP grow a spine and admit that their undying loyalty to Donald Trump is dangerous, pathetic, and shameful? We call on Mike Bost, Darin LaHood, Mary Miller, and Kathy Salvi to condemn those disgusting messages.”
