Springfield, IL — As Illinois families come together to celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, Illinois Democrats honor the strength, care, and sacrifices of mothers all across the state while recommitting ourselves to ensuring every mother has the freedom, support, and resources they need to thrive.
“As a mother and grandmother, I know how important it is for mothers to have access to reproductive health care, supportive services after giving birth, and protections in the workplace. That also means respecting every person’s autonomy to decide if, when, and how they become a mother,” said DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez. “The ILGOP has made it clear that none of that matters to them—heartlessly ripping food off the table from mothers with young children and backing a gubernatorial nominee who compared abortion to the Holocaust. I want every mother in Illinois to know that Illinois Democrats remain unwavering in our commitment to supporting all mothers, parents, and families—before, during, and after pregnancy.”
“Being a mom is not easy, and it’s even harder when you don’t have a choice in the matter. As a mom to four daughters, I am committed to making sure that women in Illinois get to choose if and when they become mothers,” said Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton. “Here in Illinois, we’ve expanded access to reproductive care, worked to address the Black maternal mortality crisis, and doubled the child tax credit.
