:  As Trump and Illinois Republicans Take Health Care Away From Illinoisans, Democrats Are Ready to Lower Costs

Springfield, IL – Donald Trump and Illinois Republicans have made one thing painfully clear to Illinoisans: They will make families pay more for health care while doing less to help them afford it.

After Illinois Republicans let enhanced Affordable Care Act tax credits expire, nearly 100,000 of Illinoisans lost or dropped their health insurance. Now the damage is getting worse: preliminary 2027 filings show insurers will increase premiums by at least 15% nationwide, piling even more costs onto families already struggling to keep up. While Illinoisans are forced to choose between putting food on the table or taking their child to a doctor, Trump and Republicans continue pushing an agenda that takes away coverage, drives up costs, and forces hospitals to go bankrupt and close.

In response, Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez released the following statement:

“Trump and Mary Miller, Darin LaHood, and Mike Bost broke their promise to make life more affordable and have handed working families health care costs they simply cannot afford. They ripped away critical coverage, drove up costs with the president’s unpopular war in Iran, made their billionaire friends richer, and left Illinois families paying the price while they look the other way. Come November, Illinoisans will have a choice: more of the Illinois Republicans’ health care disaster, or Democrats who will fight to lower costs, protect coverage, and put families first.”
