Press Release: Don’s Destruction: Gas Prices Reach an All-Time High Since Trump’s War of Choice Began
Average gas prices in Illinois are now $4.45 a gallon
Springfield, IL— Today, the national average price for a gallon of gasoline reached an all-time high of $4.18 since Donald Trump’s unpopular war of choice with Iran began two months ago. Illinois is bearing the brunt of the rising costs with families paying an average of $4.45 a gallon and a whopping $4.82 a gallon in Chicago. As Illinoisans struggle to keep up with soaring costs driven by a war that they didn’t vote for and don’t support, there appears to be no end in sight. In fact, Trump’s own Energy Secretary Chris Wright admitted recently that gas prices may not return to pre-war levels until 2027.
In response, Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Hernandez said the following:
“Because of Trump’s recklessness and Republicans’ refusal to rein him in and hold him accountable for starting a war, Illinois families are now paying nearly $5 a gallon at the gas pump. Illinois Democrats know that families are hurting and are doing their jobs in Congress to end this war while their Republican counterparts help Trump drag it out and drive costs even higher.”
