Quincy, IL — Last week, DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez continued her statewide listening tour with a stop in Adams County, where she was joined by DSCC Committeewoman (IL-15) Kate Daniels, Democratic nominee for the 15th Congressional District Jennifer Todd, and Adams County Democrats to hear directly from community members and local Democrats. Chair Hernandez touted the Party’s growth as a diverse, statewide, year-round organization under her leadership and discussed her commitment to ensuring southern Illinoisans have a seat at the table.
On expanding Democratic presence in Southern Illinois

“I have really committed myself to making a Democratic presence across the state. I really try to provide the resources necessary to elect Democrats from the local to the federal level. And I think we’ve been doing pretty good.”

On Democrats delivering affordability in the FY27 budget

“With the triggers from the federal level trickling down to the state, we’ve managed to maintain for those who are going to get kicked off of SNAP. Food security is extremely important, and we did something about that.”

When Chair Hernandez was first elected to lead the Party in 2022, she made it a priority to bring Democratic presence to every corner of the state.
