Press Release:  DPI Chair Hernandez Reacts to Supreme Court Birthright Citizenship Ruling

In response to the Supreme Court’s upholding of birthright citizenship, Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez released the following statement:

“Today, Donald Trump could not enact his racist goal: narrow who gets to be called an American and vilify everyone else. The end of birthright citizenship would have undermined the Constitution, left pregnant women with stateless children, and uprooted entire communities. With this ruling, the lawful truth remains the same: if you’re born in the United States, you’re an American.”
