Springfield, IL — In case you missed it, just one week after Renee Good was shot and killed by ICE agents during an immigration raid in Minneapolis, U.S. Representative Mary Miller (IL-16), who never misses a chance to preach family values and traditional gender norms, got on television and openly endorsed state-sanctioned violence against a woman—saying “I don’t think that they’re going too far” about several armed male ICE officers forcibly dragging a woman out of her car. The Democratic Party of Illinois released the following statement:
“While conceding she didn’t even know what she was talking about, Representative Miller revealed two of her beliefs in this interview: it’s okay to be hateful without factual information, and immigrants are not real people deserving of dignity. In fact, they deserve to be snatched out of cars by several armed officers.”

The anchor: You know, I guess the basic question here is…not whether the goal is to remove the people who are in the country illegally, or especially those who may have committed a crime, but what are we doing in terms of how we’re going about this, and is it fair to say at this point that some, if not may, of these operations are simply just going too far?”
Miller: “I don’t think that they’re going too far…if you break the laws and resist arrest, it’s not going to be pretty.”

Miller: “She’s here illegally, she’s probably getting free health care, taxpayers are paying for — if she truly isn’t an illegal, I just now am seeing this, I’ve been busy all day so I have not seen this, I don’t know the background, the truth will come out like it always does. But if she is here illegally, she’s on her way to the doctor and she is resisting arrest, who cares?“
The anchor: “But this part, we had a poll earlier in the week, only 39 percent support the president’s approach, the way he’s carrying it out.
Miller: “Well, I don’t believe that.”
