Springfield, IL — In case you missed it, the Democratic Party of Illinois launched its first-ever Youth Weekend of Action this past weekend as part of its coordinated campaign, Organize Illinois 2026. The launches were in partnership with Young Democrats of Illinois, College Democrats of Illinois, and Illinois High School Democrats.
“This past weekend, we pulled in Organize Illinois Youth Fellows, interns, students and young volunteers to talk to voters about the importance of electing Democrats up and down the ballot in November,” said DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez. “Across Illinois, volunteers knocked on thousands of doors, including in competitive districts, showing Illinoisans that Democrats of all ages are fighting for a better, more affordable future.”
“This weekend proved that involving young people is how we build a strong Democratic coalition that is truly engaged within their community,” said Democratic Party of Illinois Youth Organizing Director, Emma Murphy. “The Democratic Party of Illinois has proven that upcoming generations are a force—our energy this weekend to fight for every seat on the ticket will keep the Party energized from now through November.”
The Democratic Party of Illinois hosted several youth-centered launch events Saturday and Sunday, with volunteers knocking on over 6,000 doors:
Saturday in Danville with candidate for State Representative Mary Catherine Roberson (IL-104)
Saturday in Carol Stream with State Senator Laura Ellman, candidate for DuPage County Board Christopher Espinoza, and Young Democrats of Illinois President Dominik Bronakowski
Sunday in Chicago with Chair Lisa Hernandez and Safer Tomorrow
