Springfield, IL — Earlier this week, new ILGOP Chair Bob Grogan was a guest on WMAY where he discussed his “belief” in democracy, the sad state of the Illinois Republican Party, and even invoked misogynistic stereotypes about Democratic voters. As he struggles to explain why voters should trust a party defined by chaos and infighting, Bob Grogan refuses to answer important questions anyone seeking to represent an entire state should be able to answer, including: Does he still oppose same-sex marriage? And why is he affiliated with a recognized hate and anti-government extremist group?
In response, the Democratic Party of Illinois said the following:
“It’s hard to believe an Illinois Republican who has not loudly condemned attacks on mail-in voting, voting access, taxpayer dollars used on vanity projects, or a nearly $2,000,000,000 fund to help people who attacked our country just six years ago believes in democracy. If Bob Grogan can’t answer fundamental questions that come with representing an entire state, he has no business asking Illinoisans for their vote in November.”
