Chicago, IL — In case you missed it, earlier this week, new ILGOP Chair Bob Grogan’s awkward interview on Fox News featured hypocritical and conspiratorial theories about the Obama Presidential Center. He alleged that the Obama Foundation built the Presidential Center to “plot their plans”, overpay their staffers, and serve as an ego-monument to be funded by the taxpayers. Breaking news for Bob Grogan, he’s actually describing his Republican President. Trump’s White House Ballroom is projected to cost taxpayers $300 million. The White House UFC event allocated significant federal resources and manpower, and an undisclosed amount of taxpayer dollars is going to the ridiculous ‘Arc de Trump’.
In response, the Democratic Party of Illinois said the following:
“ILGOP Chair Bob Grogan should wake up and realize Illinoisans can’t afford their bills while his President is hosting fighting matches and redecorating the White House. It’s a bold spin to ignore those facts while going out of your way to critique a center that features public lawns and gardens, a Chicago Public Library branch and a playground. Grogan’s baseless attacks on Obama daring to document his legacy is a dog whistle. We ask, what is so vile about Barack Obama’s history being recorded, when the fifteen presidential libraries before this one also feature museum exhibitions concerning the Presidency?”
The ILGOP’s misinformation knows no bounds. Grogan also criticized the use of an Indigenous land acknowledgment, spreading revisionist lies that the land “was actually stolen from the citizens of Illinois, not from the Native Americans.”
