Springfield, IL — At midnight tonight, Donald Trump and Illinois Republicans Mike Bost (IL-12) and Mary Miller (IL-15), and Darin LaHood (IL-16) effectively shut down the federal government. Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez said the following:
“Republicans are responsible for a massive health care crisis for hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans. And as of midnight tonight, Republicans are responsible for jeopardizing the livelihoods of 45,000 federal workers in Illinois—45,000 people who need to buy groceries, pay for housing and keep the lights on in Donald Trump’s economy with skyrocketing costs.”
Illinois Democrats are fighting to reverse Medicaid cuts and extend Affordable Care Act subsidies that make medical care affordable for Illinoisans in every region of our state. Republicans refuse to support these commonsense efforts.
