Springfield, IL— Since Donald Trump came back to office, Illinois families have been forced to pay more for everyday essentials with no relief from the president or Illinois Congressional Republicans in sight. Newly released data from the Senate Joint Economic Committee shows that the average Illinois family has spent $4,200+ more on everyday costs because of Trump’s tariff tax and his unpopular war with Iran.
In response, Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez released the following statement:
“Despite jacking up costs so high that working Illinoisans can barely afford to pay their bills, put food on the table, or take a trip to the doctor’s office, Republicans would rather double down on their corrupt agenda and give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy. Let’s be clear: Trump and Republicans are not on the side of working families and are forcing families to spend more. Illinois Democrats are fighting tirelessly to crack down on Republicans’ corruption and bring down costs for every Illinoisan.”
