Press Release:  Once Again, the Illinois Freedom Caucus Wants to Be a Knockoff DOGE

Springfield, IL — Yesterday, the far-right Illinois Freedom Caucus unveiled House Resolution 906 and language in the Illinois Senate that praises Donald Trump and JD Vance’s breaking down of social services like Medicaid that help keep Illinoisans alive and healthy. Like DOGE and Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, the Freedom Caucus supports rooting out “fraud, waste, and corruption in government spending,” an agenda that has left Illinoisans without jobs, food and health care in Trump’s unforgiving economy. The Democratic Party of Illinois released the following statement:

“To MAGA Republicans, ‘finding and eliminating fraud’ has meant taking food off of tables, closing hospitals, and snatching jobs away from Illinoisans. The Freedom Caucus’s ‘anti-fraud’ crusade would hurt the very working families they say they want to protect. Since MAGA’s election to the White House, Illinois Democrats have been fighting tooth and nail to soften the blow of Trump’s dismantling of social services.”

The introduction of House Resolution 906 comes after the Freedom Caucus’s laughable plan last year that would have resulted in massive rollbacks to family services, children’s food assistance and infrastructure repairs.
