Press Release:  Ted Dabrowski Joins the Illinois GOP’s Clown Car of Republican Extremists

Chicago, IL – Ted Dabrowski, who has spent his time attacking Illinois and running a non-profit into the ground with a 74% revenue drop since 2020, last week joined a historically weak GOP gubernatorial field. Also riding shotgun in the Republican primary is a county sheriff who raised $90,000 in the first four months of his campaign, a conspiracy theorist who is currently accusing every grassroots Republican of plotting against his ‘frontrunner campaign’ and of course, Darren Bailey, the extreme conservative who remains the dominant force in the GOP primary despite Illinois voters repeatedly rejecting his agenda. In response, the Democratic Party of Illinois said the following:

“James Mendrick, Darren Bailey and Joe Severino opened the Republican clown car door, and Ted Dabrowski was the latest candidate to climb in. This ILGOP trainwreck is dominated by so-called “economic conservatives” with bigoted views and cult-like loyalty to Donald Trump who can’t keep their own fiscal houses in order. If this is the GOP bench, it’s no surprise voters across Illinois keep turning to Democrats to deliver results.”

Dabrowski’s former employer, the Illinois Policy Institute, ran a $2.5M deficit in 2022, continuing the string of deficits the organization posted while he worked there in 2014, 2016, and 2017.
