Chicago, IL — Joined by keynote speaker Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez rallied more than 800 Democrats, labor leaders, and volunteers from across the state for the Party’s fourth annual gala at Navy Pier’s Aon Ballroom this past Thursday. For the fourth consecutive year, this marquee event raised approximately $1 million to support the Party’s coordinated campaign Organize Illinois 2026, a comprehensive effort that includes grassroots organizing for local Democrats in every corner of the state, voter outreach and registration, voter protection, community engagement, and volunteer recruitment.
“Over 800 Democrats came together because we believe in what’s possible when we lead with courage, common sense, and a commitment to get things done,” said DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez. “While the Trump Administration and Republicans continue to attack families, we’re showing the people of Illinois something simple: Illinois Democrats give a damn—for working families, for immigrant communities, seniors, students, and more. Illinoisans deserve a Democratic Party that’s there before Election Day, on Election Day, and after Election Day. That’s what it means to stand united. And that is how we’re going to win in November.”
“It was great to be back with Governor Pritzker and Democrats from across the state who are ready to push back against Washington and push forward in their communities,” said Governor Wes Moore. “Chair Hernandez is making us proud and I’m confident Illinois Democrats are ready to do what it takes to send a message in November and elect common sense leaders across the state dedicated to continue growing the economy, making Illinois a safer home for everyone, and strengthening public schools.”
“Families deserve lower costs and higher wages, healthcare for all, and the best public education in the nation – and they deserve a governor who is going to find a way to make things better,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “This year’s Democratic Party of Illinois Annual Gala comes on the eve of the most important election of our lifetime, and I am going to fight alongside our party’s leaders to make sure we win up and down the ballot this November.”
