:  When Will Darren Bailey Condemn His Running Mate’s Racist, Offensive Comments About George Floyd?

Chicago, IL — Last week, Darren Bailey’s running mate, Aaron Del Mar, made racist comments at a campaign event in McHenry County. Standing next to Bailey, Del Mar called George Floyd “one of the grossest human beings ever.” When pressed on the remark, he doubled down on the statement. He was asked directly whether the comment was racist and Del Mar simply said, “No.”

Bailey has yet to say a word.

In response, Democratic Party of Illinois spokesperson Gwen Pepin released the following statement:

“It’s past time for Darren Bailey to condemn the despicable comments made by his own running mate. Del Mar didn’t walk back what he said about George Floyd – he doubled down and still, Bailey has nothing to say. It’s no wonder this is the ticket Donald Trump, who has a track record of racist comments, endorsed.

If Del Mar’s despicable, anti-Black comments are not the official position of the Bailey campaign, it is past time for Darren Bailey to say so. When will he?”
