The Democratic Party of Illinois is seeking dynamic individuals to fill multiple Regional Political Organizer (RPO) positions. The RPO is a full-time position that combines field, political, and communications work, and will be crucial in our efforts to build the Democratic Party and expand Democratic majorities.

What Will You Do?
As a regional representative of DPI, Regional Political Organizers will manage party outreach to key regional stakeholders to establish and grow DPI’s local presence, inform program development and party infrastructure based on the needs of regional stakeholders, ensure the efficient and effective delivery of party services and within your region, and implement core DPI programming in partnership with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities Include:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders on the federal, state, and local level as well as within independent political groups, grassroots organizations, and local community organizations;
- Represent DPI at local meetings and events such as township meetings, county central committee meetings, fundraisers, and other regularly hosted or relevant stakeholder meetings;
- Develop DPI programming and facilitate programming at the regional level, in partnership with DPI political staff and other senior staff leads;
- Recruit and manage the coordination of DPI volunteers for events, petition gathering, voter registration, voter contact, and other party initiatives, and supervise volunteer work.
- Support key stakeholders in developing and executing their organizational plans with the goals of; expanding the Democratic base and local grassroots networks;
- Manage and develop systems to track active DPI programming in-region;
- Regional Political Organizers are expected to exercise discretion and independent judgment in deciding how best to advance DPI’s overall strategic interests in their region of responsibility;
- Other duties as assigned
Who Are You?
The ideal candidate will be a passionate promoter of Democratic values, and have direct or transferable experience in multiple areas of campaign work. Additionally, candidates should be excited to build a structure that will outlast them, and have a collaborative, customer-service oriented mindset.
Qualifications:
- At least one cycle of campaign experience as a field organizer or fellow; and/or work experience in any combination of the following: constituent services, community organizing, or non-profits;
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment;
- Sense of humor and solutions-oriented attitude;
- Knowledge of VoteBuilder, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred;
- A demonstrated understanding of cultural competency and a community-centered mindset;
- Comfort with speaking persuasively in front of crowds.
These positions will be based around the state, and we ask that candidates eventually live in their region (if not already residing there). Applicants must have the ability to travel throughout their region regularly. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, and a reliable mode of transportation and be willing to work nights and weekends as needed
Regions:
- Region 1 – Chicago and Suburban Cook County
- Region 2 – Northern Collar Counties, including: Lake, McHenry, Kane, DeKalb, and Kendall Counties
The salary for this role is $50,000 – $60,000 and is commensurate with experience. DPI also offers a generous benefits package with the opportunity for growth.
