Springfield, IL – In response to Donald Trump’s taxpayer-funded birthday parade, the Democratic Party of Illinois released the following statement:
“We honor the service of the men and women in uniform, but this parade was never about them. It was about Donald Trump. While families in Illinois worry about health care, child care, and putting food on the table, Trump threw himself a $40 million birthday spectacle. As his administration cuts jobs, weakens health care, and fuels political violence, he does what he always does—puts himself first. Pretends he’s a king. And the Illinois GOP? They sit back and let it happen.”
Trump enjoyed his birthday parade while Illinois’ working families worry about health care, child care and food on the table:

Springfield State Journal- Register: We just don’t know what’s going to happen, and it just seems so unfair that there are legislators and government officials that are making decisions about these things when they haven’t thought it all through, I don’t think.”

Chicago Sun-Times: Project 2025, the 900-page conservative blueprint the Trump administration has been following to reduce the role of the federal government, makes a clear recommendation to “eliminate the Head Start program.”

WCIA: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) could see about $230 billion in cuts. Now, Illinois residents are worried they might have food access taken away.

Crain’s Chicago Business: The IDPH added that the administration is also blocking $324 million for future work to prevent and treat infectious diseases in Illinois.
