Chicago, IL – Today, the Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) announced that U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock will serve as the keynote speaker for its inaugural Democratic Party of Illinois Gala. The gala will take place on the evening of October 27, 2023 in Chicago. The gala will be DPI’s marquee fundraising event, with elected officials, donors, party stakeholders, and supporters from across the state and country being invited to attend.

Elected officials including Governor JB Pritzker, Senator Dick Durbin, Senator Tammy Duckworth, Illinois Senate President Don Harmon, Illinois House Speaker Chris Welch, and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson will join DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez and Senator Warnock as special guests at the gala.

“I am thrilled that Senator Reverend Warnock will join the Democratic Party of Illinois for our inaugural DPI Gala–an event which I hope will become a tradition. Senator Warnock has inspired Democrats across the nation through his advocacy for voting rights, gun reform, and economic equality. Alongside our very own Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, Senator Warnock has been a bold leader in protecting and advancing Democratic values in Washington D.C.. His hard-fought campaigns and well-deserved victories wholly embody the momentum that we are building at DPI as we work to elect Democrats up and down the ticket next year. The senator is sure to inspire us all to continue defending our historic progress, and we are thrilled to welcome him to Illinois,” said DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez.
