Chicago, IL —  Following a successful fundraising quarter and as part of Chair Lisa Hernandez’s continued party building efforts, the Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) is thrilled to announce Charles Smith as Chair of the Party’s new fundraising initiative, InvestBlue. Smith’s appointment will continue the Party’s momentum at a pivotal time, engaging new donors and supporters to support DPI’s work across the state.

The InvestBlue initiative and Smith’s leadership will ensure DPI has the resources it needs to execute year-round party building programs while making critical election cycle investments. Smith will work closely with  DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez, InvestBlue members, Party leadership, and Party staff to not only maintain the current base of Party donors, but build on the enthusiasm and momentum to outpace previous years’ fundraising efforts.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Charles to our team. I know that given his work across the business community and his relationships with leaders in all sectors, he will be a tremendous asset in shoring up our fundraising operations as we enter a competitive election cycle. As Chair, my priority has always been to build a party that serves as a resource to all Democrats, and with Charles leading our InvestBlue initiative, we will be able to do just that. Not only is Charles committed to our cause, he also brings enthusiasm, dedication and ingenuity that will be invaluable to the Democratic Party of Illinois,” said DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez.

“I am honored to have this opportunity along with the trust of DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez and the Democratic Party of Illinois. Working together, I am confident that we can produce impressive results for DPI in 2024 and beyond,” said InvestBlue Chair Charles Smith. “I’m excited to partner with our state’s elected leaders, generous donors and supporters, Party leadership and staff to do this crucial work.”
