Chicago, IL – Less than two weeks into his second term, Donald Trump has effectively put the healthcare of millions of Illinoisans at risk. In response, the Democratic Party of Illinois issued the following statement:
“Trump’s funding freeze is a calculated assault on the millions of Illinoisans who depend on Medicaid. This isn’t governance—it’s cruelty by design. While Illinois Democrats question how Illinois Republicans can in good conscience support this Administration, we will not let this chaos go unanswered. Lives are at stake, and we plan to fight back and hold the GOP accountable.”
The temporary federal freeze can impact over 3 million Illinoisans, including low-income adults, children, pregnant people and people with disabilities.
