Chicago, IL – In response to the Illinois Republican Party’s invitation of MAGA loyalist Mike Davis to headline a Thursday fundraising event in Northbrook, the Democratic Party of Illinois released the following statement:
“Mike Davis is not just another MAGA mouthpiece–he’s an extremist angling to be Trump’s Attorney General, who flippantly talks about putting migrant children in ‘cages’ and sending journalists to ‘the gulag.’
“Davis’s so-called ‘trolling’ isn’t provocative or clever—especially considering his candidate has promised to be a dictator on day one. The ILGOP’s continued embrace of authoritarian voices is a threat to our democracy.
“Last month, the ILGOP canceled a fundraiser headlined by Mark Robinson after facing blowback for Robinson’s bigotry. Will Kathy Salvi and her extremist allies continue to trip over themselves and cancel this event too? Or will they stand with Mike Davis and his unhinged attacks on Democracy?”
