Chicago, IL – Friday night, the Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) hosted its second annual fundraising gala at Chicago’s Field Museum, welcoming over 1,000 Democrats from across the state and hearing from keynote speaker Gretchen Whitmer on the stakes of the November 5th presidential election and the strength of our Midwestern Blue Wall. Along with Governor Whitmer, DPI Chair Lisa Hernandez, DPI Finance Chair Charles Smith, Mayor Brandon Johnson, Cook County Board of Commissioners President Toni Preckwinkle and Governor JB Pritzker took the podium to rally Illinois Democrats. In total, the Party raised over $1 million from ticket sales and donations to continue its work to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot in less than 40 days.
“On Friday, Midwest Democrats laid out our commitment to working families, workers’ rights, women’s rights and more. DPI made clear what we’re fighting for this election cycle. We’re focused on winning seats up and down the ticket in November. We continue to build out our coordinated campaign, Organize Illinois, and we’re applying excitement generated by the Presidential contest to every race across Illinois. Because when we vote, we win,” said Chair Hernandez.
