Springfield, IL — Donald Trump’s handpicked Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is in Illinois today to fearmonger about immigrant families and spread dangerous lies about the progress Illinois Democrats have made.
In response, the Democratic Party of Illinois wants to know the following:
Six Questions for Kristi Noem:
- Do you stand by the president when he says he doesn’t need to follow the Constitution?
- How can you possibly justify deporting American citizens and legal residents to foreign mega-prisons without going through the proper procedure and due process?
- How do blanket threats on entire communities make Illinois and the entire country any safer?
- You say the administration is wholly-concerned about public safety, so how can you justify massive cuts to federal programs which are designed to support our youth, prevent violence, and bring down crime?
- Can you explain the bevy of mistakes you’ve made while carrying out this process? How come no one from the White House can give a straight answer on the mistaken deportations of young children? How about the students who received notices they were being forced to leave the country just for those orders to be rescinded days later? Aren’t you supposed to be overseeing all this?
- Did you at any point stop and second guess yourself for using El Salvadorian detainees as props in a photo op?
