Addison, IL—On Sunday, the Democratic Party of Illinois Chair Lisa Hernandez set out to inform, rally and empower DuPage County’s Latino community alongside U.S. Representatives Jesus “Chuy” García (IL-4) and Delia Ramirez (IL-3). Illinois Democratic leaders, candidates and volunteers were excited to rally, canvass and lead a march to an early voting site. During the rally, Democrats stressed the importance of Illinoisans’ involvement in tomorrow’s election.

“I’m proud that as the first Latina Chair of the Democratic Party of Illinois, I have the opportunity to uplift Latino candidates and communities each day. For too long, communities of color have largely been affected by socioeconomic disparities but regardless of the obstacles that our communities endure, I know my people. We wake up every single day y le hechamos ganas,” said Chair Hernandez. “It’s essential that we continue to work together to ensure Illinois’s growing Latino community has every opportunity to thrive at every level of government. That’s why on November 5th, we are going to make sure we can say: Madame Presidenta!”

“From the White House to the Illinois State House and local court house we need to elect qualified leaders rooted in our communities! I joined my federal, state, and local colleagues to get out the vote across the western suburbs. We’ve got a powerful cross-generational, multiracial coalition in DuPage ready to make history on Nov. 5th to elect Democrats up and down the ballot,” said Congressman García.

Hernandez, García and Ramirez were joined by fellow Illinois Democrats including State Representatives Norma Hernandez (IL-77) and Diane Blair-Sherlock (IL-46), candidates for State Representative Marti Deuter (IL-45) and Maria Vesey (IL-48), 18th Circuit Judge Chantelle Porter, DuPage County Board Vice Chair Michael Childers and DuPage County Board District One candidate Maria Sinkule.

Sunday’s mobilization comes after DPI hosted over twenty get out the vote events in Illinois, including a trip to Kenosha to door-knock for Harris for President, two Weekends of Action, an event with Governor Pritzker in Lake County and a youth vote rally at Illinois State University.
